The French Assembly Vote on the Suspensive Veto

The king let it be known that he himself would now be in favor of a suspensive veto. But before the vote on the veto was taken up, the assembly sidetracked on to another issue dear to mounier's heart. The radicals wanted it because they thought it would be more democratic and representative of the general will. They were joined by poor nobles who were afraid simply that courtier super nobles would come to dominate the upper house. And then punt the poor noble right back out of power.
