In 19 73, prince daud staged a palace coup that overthrew his uncle, king sakir shah. And daoud proclaimed a republic with support from one of afghanistan's two main communist factions. But by 19 77, parcham had reunited with the other main communist faction to create the people's democratic party in opposition to the daud regime. Daoud responded by implementing this brutal crackdown with help from the sha eran. Doubt regarded bakistan as his main enemy, because he felt that clinging on to peston territories and peston lands was a breach of the agreement the afgans were forced to sign with the british.
