CHAPTER

The Importance of Rituals in Contemporary Art

Liverpool has been touched upon before but this one seems to have placed it absolutely at the centre of the buy-in-yel. At the opening can you see Le Mabonga actually performed a kind of Isizulu ritual because she's also a shaman as well. Another artist Sandra Subi from Uganda did her Samba gown which is an amazing gown in the middle of the gallery with slogans about men and women and sexism written on them photographs of an amazing African woman in landfill rubbish dumps Obviously performing an incredible performance in this gown but we didn't see it it was all a little bit inert.
