The Coming of the Lord Is at Hand
In the middle of verse eight, he says, establish your hearts, for the coming of the lord is at hand. Do not grumble against one another, brothers, so that you may not be judged. Can't you just picture it? The judge with his hand on the door, ready to push it open and enter into the difficult reality of the injustice in this world. And when i see that picture, i just long for him to come through the door, don't you? So in one sense, we we understand what he's saying. But in another sense, we don't really get what he is saying because they lived a long time ago.
