The Role of Proprioception in Running Injury

The brain monitors everything at about 50 millisecond intervals. If you go from bitumen to grass, your brain is going to register that you've gone from a hard surface to a soft surface. And when you step onto the grass, it is going to change the muscle activity to model your lower limb as a stiffer spring. Now, when you put big foams under the foot, you can get some really deference with that transmission of the signal to the brain. It certainly can interfere with that whole process and you get a bit of a confused signal occurring. So that's what we have to be a bit careful of. Any injuries in particular? I've not read any...
