Silver met Paul Volker at a conference right around the time inflation was taken off. Silver: "Here was the president of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York who really didn't care" The White House called Volker in 1979 to see if he should be nominated as Fed chairman. He asked 15 minutes and ended up talking for an hour.
