Matthew's Playing With His Audience
In verse 17, Matthew says that all the generations from Abraham to David are 14 generations. And I just want to throw this out there that may be Matthew's playing with his audience. If we geeked out and we looked at every single name in the line of Jesus, it would have a lot more names. So Matthew's being selective and I think he's being selective on purpose.
