Hippinax and the Motherfucker

Hippinax was a 6th century BC Ionian poet from Tios on Anatolian coastline. He describes himself as a man of action, but unlike Archilicus, his battlefields are close to home. In one fragment he decries Bupalis, the motherfucker with Erate, Metrocautus in Greek. Hippinax too shows his misogynistic side, when he says, this, there are two days when a woman is a pleasure, the day one marries her and the day one carries out her dead body.
