The President's Response to Pegasus Spyware
The Mexican government bought high-tech surveillance products like Pegasus before much of the world even knew spyware existed. R3D and Citizen Lab knew that Pegasus had been planted on citizens' phones, but they hadn't yet been able to prove decisively who was behind it. The Mexican president himself, Andrei Manuel Lopez-Oberdour, denied his administration news spyware at all. But then came the Guacamaya Leafs and all those secret military documents. They began to find evidence that confirmed some of their worst suspicions.
