Adverse Childhood Experiences and Trama

Adverse childhood experiences or aces refer to experiences of chronic, acute stress that occur in a young person's life up until the age of 18. Once an individual had about four aces they were twice as likely to develop cancer later in life compared to someone who had none. Aces and trama have an effect on our long term health and well being, but it also has an effect on the immediate cognitive behaviora and social, emotional and even neurological development of young people. Resilience is more than just grit. It is emotionally intelligent. And so we begin to understand that there are so many other factors that help to nurture that innate capacity for resilience.
