Domestic only se protection trusts have 'very consistently failed' There's a third option for an asset protection trust, which is the one i use for most of my clients. If we had a legal system that we all trusted, like we did 50 years ago, it was just rare that anyone would sue. It was seen as a failure. Today, we've just wiped that out. We live in a legal system where it's an industry to sue. You can't bring a lawsuit if you're not liable under U.S. law. I don't think there are any good reasons why people shouldn't be able to set up their own private pension fund.
