Gratitude practice is definitely related to serotonin. It might tickle the dopamine system a little bit but the gratitude practice that I really try and incorporate is toward the end of the day. After sexual intercourse is one time when oxytocin is flooding the brain in men and women, this ensures some level of scent exchange. We're still very much scent and fermonely linked animals even though we don't often talk about that. The ability to deliberately disengage the goal directed outward facing behavior will allow me to re-engage that at a heightened capacity the next day.
