Jerry Wexler wanted to merge Red Bird with Atlantic. Leibron Stuller thought this sounded like a great idea, but it didn't work out. The merger created huge distrust among everyone involved. Lee Bird and Stoller later decided that Goldner had been sabotaging the meeting because he didn't want an oversight exposing his corruption. When Goldner died of a heart attack in 1970,.
