Could the Fed Perhaps Structure Communications Around That as a Case for a Pause?
I share your worry that the interpretation of a pause could be that the Fed is deeply concerned. We're dealing with market and depositors psychology. It's no longer really related entirely on the facts of each bank's condition. In my experience, it's very hard for the Fed to set policy based on some kind of minuet with the markets.
