The Importance of Data Management in Higher Education
In the 1980s John Tarzia ecologist at Brigham and Women Hospital and Harvard Medical School was accused of fabricating data in numerous scientific publications. In this case led to increased emphasis on research integrity and stricter protocols for data verification. There is much more emphasis on education within academic institutions relating to good research practices, research integrity, ethical conduct and particularly tools for data management management. Finally an important one mechanisms to protect whistleblowers who report suspect misconduct.
