The Problem With Abstractions Is That They Are All That Matter

A lot of companies do abstractions too early when they don't really understand the mental model of these systems. So if your job is to create these self service data products, then you have to understand that their perception of the thing is all that really matters. Here that's really important that these users are internal stakeholders and not paying customers. We also want to be thinking about, how will this effect paying customers on the other end? Hopefully it's adding some kind of value to them.
