The Different Forms of Mass Killings

Many mass killings aren't really seeking to eliminate a social group. What they might be seeking to do instead is to sort of terrorize a group into submission. Other mass killings you might get for other reasons, it might be an effort to drive a population off a certain territory but not to wipe out the group as such. So there are kind of strategic factors and technological factors that shape mass killings independent of any ideological factor.
