The Different Sensations of Critical Theory
Christopher Watkin is a lecturer at Monash University in Sydney. He says there are different senses of critical theory circulating in society. The first he came across was as part of an undergraduate unit on post-cantian modern approaches to society. And that was the sense of critical theory for most of the 2000s. There's also a narrower version, which includes Adorno Marx and Horkheimer. In recent years it has insinuated itself into public consciousness with movements like critical race theory. But Christopher wants to make the case for having this broader sense of what a critical theory of society is.
