Introduction
Economic Update is a weekly program devoted to the economic dimensions of our lives and those of our children. This week, Richard Wolff looks at colonialism as it was known in the past. He says European countries expanded with capitalism from their origins in whatever part of Europe they existed through the growth built into capitalism. The result: colonies that often killed large numbers of local people or made them work under conditions hard to believe human beings treated each other this way.
