The Son of God
The author of Hebrews has a very high view of Jesus. In chapter 2, this is his way of getting at the problem of sin and death. God himself kind of weaves himself into the story. Only by dying could he break the power of the devil who had the power of death. only in this way could he set free all who have lived their lives as slaves to the fear of dying.
