Predictive coding works by multiplying a prediction error by some gain by precision. If the neuron is incurring rsa prediction errors, then if the brain thinks that these prediction errirs are very precise, it will project modulat an projections to increase the gain. The neurimodulat systems are now, the things you might think are going wrong in, say, generalized anxiety disorder or anxious depression. And indeed, it is exactly the drugs that are used to ameliorate some the symptoms of anxiety and anxious depression which target these neurmodulatory a neura transmitters.
