The Importance of Neighborhood Planning Units in Atlanta

Dickens is only the second mayor since 1974, not to graduate from one of those HBCUs. He did join Kappa Alpha Psi, a historically black fraternity, when he went to Tech and was a member of the student government. After graduations, he briefly left the state before returning home in 2002 to take care of his ill mother. This is around the time that he started his public service career, and he joined NPUD.
