It's a weird upfront demand to be like, I need you guys to have really cool, nice little narrative arcs when it's just starting. There's nothing better than looking at the sheet or the description of your character in the book and being like, "Oh man, at this level, I get this" It's very fun. Once they get those three attacks, then it might be easier to present options for them to multi-class.
