Are We Using Sequencing Technology for Public Health?
We've had the technology for a long time to do public health at genome level with viruses. In fact, if you go on to GenBank, there's like only 60 human coronavirus 229E,. That's a virus that causes a lot of colds, yet we only have 60 genomes or so. It's a disgrace. We're already at the stage where we can do single cell sequencing on zebrafish and mice - just awful out of study development or immune responses.
