In theory, i can op out of being a smart phone user, but the reality is i can't. To the degree in which you can live off the grid, you cannot have a smart phone. You cannot be on line constantly. There are many professions and many places in the united states for being persistently connected is not a requirement. That's an active choice to opt out. That's not the choice not to opt in.
