The Relationship Between Science and Religion
The conflict narrative that we're all familiar with between science and faith is a relatively recent thing. In the UK it's two to one in favour of incompatibility, I'm not sure what it would be in Australia but like you say it's the default position. The academic landscape has completely changed in the last half century or so saying that the two have been at constant war or conflict which is what the popular narrative has been at least since the end of the 19th century. You have this professionalisation of science into something that would be recognisable to a modern person. It's that science is independent, has its own institutions and so on. But they come home for Sunday lunch sometimes right
