Youth Drinking
Yum Nasarandana is a researcher at Karolinsky Institute in Stockholm, Sweden. She has spent the last five years studying the drinking habits of young Swedes. The researchers survey these young people once a year and also interview them to find out more about their relationship to alcohol. Yum says non-drinking adolescents don't seem to have much trouble socialising and keeping friends. Non-drinkers are actually improving their lives on a range of other areas such as mental health or family situation. And among those that still drink, levels of consumption are at an all time low.
