In Ireland, local government is infantilized as political entities because they don't have their own stream of income. So the closer you are to the center, the more important you get. Contrast this with Switzerland, do you know what the name of the Swiss prime minister or president is? No. But you know Emmanuel Macron is the French president. Yeah. Now why? Because Switzerland has totally and utterly inverted the power pyramid. And it's there for us. We could do this so easily.
