The 10,000 Woes of Achilles and the Trojans
Homer shows us that these are the 10,000 woes that Achilles inflicted upon the Achaeans when he stood by and watched as the Trojans became ever more successful almost at some point. The poem would have certainly been far less dramatic if Homer had painted the TroJans the way the Greeks sometimes condescended to the Eastern civilizations,. But it's also the case that to ennoble the enemy is to increase the status of the victory.
