The Importance of Breathing Frequency in Training

Breathing frequency is used as a marker of exercise tolerance. It's not until you go beyond the maximal steady state where you're really having to interrupt your speaking that breathing begins to be affected. So in terms of how your breathing reacts, it will also depend on the athlete themselves as well. But I would imagine if you are an elite athlete working at the upper end of your moderate domain, it's probably quite hard to talk then anyway.
