The Importance of Compassion in Buddhist Thought
In the West, selfless is a moral descriptor. You will never find a Buddhist text ever anywhere that says that one should be compassionate because everyone is interconnected. That was really fascinating to me. I'm doing my dissertation at Harvard on compassion in Indian books,. Buddhist texts, I completely expect to find these things. And yet, I don't find them in the Buddhist texts when I start digging for them.
