The law is one of the worst laws on the books in terms of economic policy, having a jones act for all other goods. It's not better economically to force people to buy locali it's actually worse. Ships are four to five times as expensive as foreign made ships. And you can see how what might sound good on paper, what might make us feel good, is actually quite bad for the economy or national security objectives.
