Queen Victoria's mother died in the spring of 1861. Sarah was allowed to go into official mourning with the royal family, despite having treated her like this. The pressure began to get to Sarah and she felt properly vulnerable. She married Mr. Davies but was not allowed to come back to either Schillens House or St. James's Palace.
