I feel like it's impossible to perform some one's life story and completely miss the point. I think she was an open, sensitive human being. She could laugh and cry at the same time. For a society that celebrates ism, that's a hard thing to understand as authentic. There are so many moments watching this movie and revisiting this episode or i really find myself identifying with sammy fay baker. We celebrate aloofness in someone who's super cool. But we don't actually see it as how beautiful to have an expression of love so large that it makes you want to jump and celebrate it.
