The Misogyny of Mary Robinson
Mary Robinson was a lawyer and senator in the Irish upper house. She found opposition to her candidacy to be nasty and personal. The mistake that the opponents of Mary Robinson did is to express their misogyny openly and aggressively. They accused her of being an indifferent mother, accused her of condoning promiscuity and adultery. And this was careless talk from prominent politicians. None of the canyam ministers would ever have spoken like that. If they had been all coded and talked about the sanctity of the family and the Irish home,. they might have stopped women voting for a woman president. But they didn't. It's definitely not what they go. I had no idea. We're in politics
