Anapis's Portrayal of Sociopathra

Heidi Marks: Anapis is trying to counter the image that we are seeing repeatedly created by, again, male biographers of female Christian saints. She says sociopathra has full mastery of poetry, rhetoric, philosophy and so forth from her teaching by these two caldians. And in the fourth century, we are really seeing, at least in the Christian church, a real attempt to circumscribe the roles that women can play in leadership through various councils and canons.
