A lot of schools to either cover their butts politically, or they'll show one film and say, we've dealt with it with our students, and then they move on. And there's no real attempts to change the culture, to change the way people think and talk about gender and sexuality in the school. So if a school really wants to get at the roots, at some of this anti gay bias and bullying engendered on behavior, then it needs to be something that's systematic from the bottom to the top. It's deep, historical, cultural, religious values that we're working against. You've got to update your policies to make sure they're inclusive," she says.
