Lonely individuals are known to be victim to something of a downward spiral. They tend to end up with the more negative spin of whatever information they receive that drives them even deeper into the loneliness pit. Bizdock and his colleagues conducted the largest studies to date, looking for signatures of loneliness in the human brain. The results were published in 2020 in Nature Communications.
