The Symptoms of Radiation Sickness

All three occupants of the car began experiencing symptoms within hours of exposure to the UFO. The symptoms they presented are strongly suggestive of acute radiation syndrome or radiation poisoning. Acute radiation syndrome can be fatal, did they seek medical treatment? Not immediately, it appears that they didn't recognize that they were having symptoms of radiation poisoning so they didn't go to the hospital at once.
