The Importance of X Factor Character
"I just try to do whatever fits the song and also has a little bit of, as I say, has some X factor character," he says. "People are very quick to kind of put associations on things ... People look for shortcuts to make it sound like this or that." He's experimented with using distorted mics in different rooms at recording studios.
