There's that a but this mistrust of the military that we don't really see any more. More often your protagonist is ex military themselves and they bring those skills to bear on the crisis facing them. Military itself as being a potential adversary, as something that not rained in itis dangerous and untrustworthy. This whole attitude of like being the one guy in the world who actually knows how to fix things is not something you see that much any more.
