Khadija: I'd say a big part of my performance or dealing with stress and anxiety whilst riding is those little prayers that I say. When it gets too much, I just repeat them and hope that numerically speaking, praying more might do me some good. Also, it's just a comfort blanket. If things go south, I'm like, I've done what I can and I've connected as much as I can with Khad. It's almost out of your hands. It's in God's hands. And that is a form of self-talk. Self-talk techniques have been evidenced within the sport psychology field to support improved performance.
