A transitional form in evolutionary theory is an organism that you would expect to see if one major group had given rise to another major group. And when people use this kind of terminology, they're thinking about reptiles giving rise to birds, or reptiles giving Rise to mammals,. Or fishes evolving into tetropods. So this is othing kind of thingand i guess that would be kind of a big deal if you're an evolutionist and looking for evidences of these evolutionary transitions.
