Kevin McCarthy - The Only One Who Can Get the Mob to Leave the Capitol

Congressional leadership recognized on a bipartisan basis that President Trump was the only person who could get the mob. to end its violent siege of the Congress, leave the Capitol and go home. Former aides publicly begged him to do so. Loyal allies frantically called the administration. The president did not act swiftly. He didn't take steps so federal law could be faithfully executed and order restored. In the midst of this violent chaos, Kevin McCarthy implored Donald Trump to tell his supporters in the mob to leave the Capitol. And when that didn't work, McCarthy called Trump's adult children to try to get them to intercede with Trump to call off the insurrectionary violence.
