What's the Point of Releasing the WhatsApp Messages to COVID?
Short's defence was that there was a public interest in releasing these messages for the benefit of the inquiry into the pandemic, which is going on. What Oak shot has done is obviously she's just pulling out the ones that help her own agenda and she's very clearly an anti-lockdown activist. Some of the messages come across as just callus, Simon Case thought it was hilarious to put families in quarantine hotels, at their own expense. It has the effect inevitably of confirming what is a widely held view that the government is incompetent, callus, lazy, corrupt. And that's probably true, but I think it doesn't help in the sense that there may well be wider contexts
