Methane is 80 times as potent as CO2, it only hangs about for 20 years in comparison to carbon dioxide. In the short term, it's like 80 times as bad as CO2 is per time. The inherent problem of just all us being reliant on so much on gas is it's very easy to leak out without anyone noticing. How much is leaked out of interest every year in a country like the UK? I think 3 percent is the level that it breaks even with coal.
