The left s r leadership considered the resumption of war to be the vital course correction the revolution needed, and they planned to go to any length to achieve it. They wanted to take up the role that had been played by the petrograd soviet in 19 17, point a gun at the head of the people's commissaurs aforce them to change their policy.
