The Story of JFC Fuller and the Battle of Blitzkrieg
JFC Fuller was appointed commander of a new experimental mechanized force in December 1926. He would have to step away from his single-minded focus on the tank, and also take command of an infantry brigade and a garrison. That would mean taking responsibility for managing people, as well as creating ideas. But he balked and wrote to the head of the army, demanding that these other duties be carried out by someone else. Eventually, Fuller threatened to resign. The position was awarded to someone else, and Fuller's career never recovered.
