The Value of Personas in a Portfolio
I think they get a lot of hate in the industry. I think for a good reason because sometimes they're created mindlessly if you want. Sometimes they have some research insight behind them. So basically personas are ways of representing the research insights in a more digestible way. They can like exclude groups and they can put you on a very narrow path where you're not seeing left, right? And many times it's just not one user - even if we're using archetypes to understand our main design problems... It can still exclude a lot of other archetypal users that we want to include. We don't know that we can’t put people in such a tight box
