Bernav dicon reported on what happened when one of these stranger danger videos went virol i ended up travelling to this tiny hamlet called rhinpade, which s in the indian state of maharasta. Just days before i visited, five people had been lynched to death in an extremely gruesome and brutal manner. The video that spurred that violence, it was complete misinformation. It featured an image of dead children that was actually from the aftermath of a chemical weapons attack in syria. But the fact that the information was being shared by people in watsap groups made it feel more trustworthy.
